UPDATED COVID PAY GUIDELINES

The March 2020 Quarantine Pay Program was put in place to be a temporary solution to address social distancing until COVID-19 treatment and vaccinations were developed. With large numbers of employees now vaccinated and new treatment options available, Yates and Nissan will now return to our regular absence and leave policies and programs. Below are guidelines for Supervisors and Employees to follow.

  • Beginning January 1st, 2022 absences for COVID-19 (including testing) and quarantine for COVID-19 will be treated like any other approved absence under the attendance policy.
  • The process to report COVID 19 symptoms and exposure remains the same.
  • CONTACT YOUR SUPERVISOR AND YATES HR
    • SMYRNA HR @ 615-459-1701
    • DECHERD HR @ 931-962-5963
    • CANTON HR @ 601-855-8491
  • The process for testing and reporting remains the same
  • Quarantine will still be required when deemed necessary.

5 COVID-19 requirements to be at work – if the answer to any of these is yes, do not enter the facility and contact your Supervisor and Yates HR/Benefits immediately.

  1. Have you tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days or are you waiting on results?
  2. Do you currently have a temp of 100.4 (or above), or have you had within the past 24 hours?
  3. In the past 14 days have you been within 6 feet of someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or who is awaiting results of a COVID-19 test?
  4. In the past 14 days have you experienced one of the following; loss of smell or taste, persistent dry cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing; or any two of the following; fever, chills/shaking, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, body aches, vomiting/diarrhea, nausea?
  5. In the past 14 days have you traveled internationally?

COVID-Related Absences

  • For one week or less – you must use your available paid time for the first 5 days. If you have exhausted PVT/PTO you may go unpaid or use your accrued vacation (time over 56 hours).
  • For absences after day 5 related to quarantine – PVT/PTO/VAC is optional, otherwise it’s unpaid.
  • For absences after day 5 related to COVID-19 – contact Yates HR/Benefits for leave eligibility.
  • An employee will not receive corrective action if they are off work and have exhausted their time if:
  1. They are diagnosed with COVID-19 (supporting documents required)
  2. They are waiting for a COVID-19 test result (supporting documents required)
  3. They are quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure (supporting documents required)
  4. They are caring for a family/household member with COVID-19 (could be covered by FMLA)
  • If an employee is required to test during a work day they must return to work following a negative COVID-19 test, if they can work at least half their scheduled shift. If an employee does not report to work and is testing, they must test within the first 2 hours of the test site opening. If these guidelines are not followed absence/corrective action will apply.

General Guidelines

  • If you test positive for COVID-19 you will be required to quarantine for 10 days and return (if fever-free for 24 hours).
  • If a household member is positive for COVID-19, you will quarantine and test on day 8; if negative return to work, if positive you will quarantine for an additional 6 days (whether vaccinated or unvaccinated).
  • If you are exposed to COVID-19 by a non-household member who has tested positive and you are symptom-free you should report to work (whether vaccinated or unvaccinated). You must obtain a COVID test on day 4.

Supervisors should use NOVAtime pay code 68/CV19 – (COVID19 UNPAID) and the corresponding approved/unpaid reason code if the hourly employee has exhausted available time and their absence is excused.
