Job Description:

  • Participate in investigating near-misses and incidents; coach supervisors on incident investigation (Root cause analysis) and countermeasure development/implementation.
  • Assist with and/or conduct safety audits with supervisors; coach supervisors on system issues, identifying at risk items, and implementing countermeasures.
  • Ensure company safety policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently.
    • Assist the supervisors identifying at risk safety items and developing/implementing countermeasures.
    • Make safety contacts with supervisors and employees to ensure adherence to safety rules and safe behaviors.
  • Assist in equipment and facility layout changes.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments to determine at risk items and assist with developing/implementing countermeasures.
  • Ensure OSHA and other regulatory compliance standards are met.
  • Review and/or develop PPE Job Hazard Assessments in conjunction with the Supervisor.
  • Data collection and analysis for trend tracking/identification.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed.

Summary

  • Responsible to ensure a safe and accident-free workplace.
  • Conduct compliance and work station audits.
  • As part of the Safety team, this position will develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures for the manufacturing facility.
  • Works with engineering teams and equipment suppliers to ensure equipment and processes are designed to meet regulatory and Yates Services safety requirements.
  • Develops, reviews, and conducts relevant training programs to support safety and related technical processes (NFPA 70E, NEC, Robotics, Electrical, Machine Guarding, etc.) and policies.

Safety Specialist Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
  • Will consider an A.S. Degree in Engineering or Safety
  • Entry level experience in a prior safety position (required if A.S. degree) or as a safety intern/co-op student.
  • A working knowledge of State and Federal safety standards.
  • Prefer a working knowledge of ergonomic guidelines and evaluation tools.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Position will require the flexibility to work non-traditional hours and occasional travel.

Safety Specialist Desired Skills

  • Safety experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience using Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Certification in Safety field (such as ASP/CSP/CIH) is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

Physical duties of job will require employee to stand, walk, and use hands to work with tools, controls and equipment. Employee will be required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Pay Depends on Experience
